Sure, if you play DnD, this won’t be much use, but the board, the scenarios and encounters are super useful for a small contained story.
Get friends that don’t play the proper game into it with this, by learning these simpler rules, using them to create your own characters, then show them how to tell a story with the layout provided. end it with a cliffhanger and bring them into the bigger game.

This is a really great and super exciting family adventure board game that very neatly alludes to the essence of D&D games.
The game is very nicely presented with lots of cardboard accessories and colourful event and monster cards. A number of plastic accessories (4 characters and stands) are included was well as 4 20-sided dices and a 10-sided dice. The character and monster stands are brilliant in particular how they allow you to keep track of the hit points. This set up makes it quite easy for younger players to get acquainted with the D&D style of playing. The game is advised for players of 10-years or old, but our youngest at 7 absolutely loves it and is one of the most fanatic players at the table.

The instructions are brief and very clear and take you about 10 to 15 minute to go through. You just got to make sure that you sort the 4 groups of monsters and event cards that belong to each scenario and keep 3 of those apart.

The game lasts about an hour. And the few times we played it were full of excitement. Compared to D&D the emphasis is more on fighting and slaying monsters but that can be done in a small variety of ways and with lots of tools/upgrades. In fact, being able to upgrade you character in a simple manner throughout game is quite appealing. Despite the many rounds of fighting there are nice quizzes and challenging intermezzo’s as well. On the one hand its a shame that only 4 scenarios are included, but then again even if you play one twice the event s and outcomes will be very different.

I’ve been fascinated by D&D games since the late 70’s, tough I never had any others to play with. Now my family is gradually getting a hang of fantasy role play games through these board game D&D adaptations. We like to play Dungeon and Wildwood as well. I’ve also bought the D&D Wrath of Ashardalon, but that still is a little too demanding for our youngest

Brilliant game, all three children (12,10 and 7) enjoyed playing with me as DM to guide them through. The game suggests rotating DM to each player but I thought they needed to get to grips with game mechanics first. Easy to play, 7 year old got frustrated losing health but was a healer so points easily regained. I hope Asmodee will do expansions and extra characters for this in the future as we would definitely buy (we are a family of 5 but there’s only 4 characters, so someone either doesn’t play or is DM guiding stuff). I hope the children learn cooperation and teamwork through this game. They are very imaginative so looking forward to them making up their own stories with this! Perfect for some family escapism from the current COVID anxiety and homeschooling hell. Buy it if you love monsters, magic and adventure or you want to expand your kids brains (and tempt them away from their computer/consoles!)

I was looking for a gateway to DnD for me and my young son who always had wanted to play it. This gives you everything you need and each game is different, 100% recommend if you haven’t played DnD before and want something similar.
